Portugal's Silver Coast area has some of the country's most impressive architecture, historical and religious sites in Portugal. On the coastline, nearly empty beaches mix with quaint fishing towns and villages, of which Nazaré is one of the finest examples. Obidos, the medieval walled town with beautiful cobbled streets, ancient churches and a good selection of restaurants and craft shops is 15 mins by car. Peniche, the fishing port, with excellent seafood restaurants and boat trips to the nearby Berlanga Islands, a nature reserve, is also 15 mins away by car. Caldas Da Rainha 25 mins drive away, provides good shopping and a great open air market.
